Construction Process

The boxes and boards are constructed in multiple steps of dimensioning, laminating, and shaping various pieces of wood from rough lumber . All woods are solid and exhibit their natural colours. Many construction steps require the use of templates, jigs, or holders designed and made specifically for each box or board. The boxes and boards are sanded to 320 grit and are finished with several coats of water based varathane.

I have a passion for revealing and combining the beauty of ordinary North American woods, and complimentary exotic woods, to create functional and decorative pieces. I love the way wood looks, feels, and smells. I hope my passion translates into creations that surprise and delight the senses and facilitates a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty of wood, especially that which was hidden and often undiscovered.
